• The objective of this scoping review was to systematically examine the literature describing public involvement in initiatives to reduce low-value care.The majority of included citations were published following inception of Choosing Wisely in 2012. 
• Of the 218 studies identified 156 (72%) focused on patient engagement within the patient-clinician interaction, using tools that included shared decision-making (n = 66, 42%) and patient-targeted educational materials (n = 72, 46%), and reported both reductions in low-value care and improved patient perceptions regarding low-value care. Thirty three studies (15%) examined public involvement in low-value care policy-making. Forty one studies were from Europe.

• Discussion of a judgement where the appellant sought to argue that two CCGs had breached the statutory duty to involve the public at section 14Z2 NHS Act 2006 (because the consultation needed to have taken place before the “retain services” option was discarded which had been done in committee) and that the consultation exercise undertaken by the CCGs was unlawful because it did not include consultation on a ‘do nothing’ option / did not explain why it had been rejected.

• The choice and framing of synthesising and summarising information to inform citizen deliberations about health policy can strongly influence their understanding of a policy issue, and has the potential to impact the discussions and recommendations that emerge from deliberations. This review of the published literature confirmed that there remains a dearth of literature describing methods of the preparation of information to inform citizen deliberations about health policy issues.

• Co-design is when an organisation and its stakeholders work together to design or rethink a service. As an approach it sits midway between consultation and fully user-led projects.
• This toolkit explores what co-design is, why it matters and outlines a five-stage process for planning and implementing the co-design of products or services. The five stages cover: setting up - engaging participants; discovery - findings new insights that could influence the co-design process; defining - define the specific problem to be addressed; developing - develop and refine solutions; and delivery. For each stage, the toolkit includes case studies, tips and tools. 
• The toolkit also explores how evaluate and assess the outcomes of your co-design and the quality of your processes, and how to review and learn from the data. It is designed for service delivery organisations, but the principles apply to any organisation who want to improve its co-design.

• The new service will allow users to work on a document in a webpage, without having to download it.
